Retaining walls, rock walls and block cuts in Perth

Sloping blocks are common in the Perth hills and plenty of suburbs closer to the city. To get a level pad, the ground has to be cut back and held there. We do the block cut, build the wall and backfill behind it as one job.

Retaining work we do

Whether it is a single wall along a boundary or a block that needs cutting into terraces, we can price the earthworks and the walls together.

  • Block cuts on sloping sites
  • Block retaining walls
  • Rock walls
  • Backfill and compaction behind the wall
  • Drainage behind the wall

Why do the cut and the wall together

The cut, the wall and the pad all depend on each other. When one contractor digs and another builds the wall, levels can get lost between the two. Doing both means the wall goes in at the right height, the backfill is compacted properly and the pad finishes where your plans say it should.

Before you start

Walls over a certain height, or close to a boundary, usually need engineering and council approval. Check with your local council or builder early so it doesn't hold up the job. If you already have drawings, send them through with your quote request and we will price to them.

Block walls or rock walls

Block retaining walls are neat and straight, and suit residential boundaries and tight spaces. Rock walls suit bigger cuts, rural blocks and a more natural look, but need room for the machine to place the rock.

The right choice depends on the height, what sits above and below the wall, the look you are after and what your engineer specifies. If you are not sure, tell us about the site and we will talk you through the options before you spend anything.
