Driveways and fire breaks in Perth and the hills

Long gravel driveways, farm tracks and fire breaks. We form driveways properly from the base up, and cut and maintain fire breaks on rural and semi-rural blocks.

Driveways that last

A driveway that washes out or turns to ruts after one winter usually wasn't built on a proper base. We cut the line, shape it so water runs off, compact the base and finish it with gravel or recycled asphalt.

If the driveway is going to be sealed or concreted, we prepare the base ready for the next trade, or pour the concrete ourselves.

Fire breaks

Rural and semi-rural shires around Perth require landowners to have fire breaks in place by the dates on their annual fire break notice. We cut new fire breaks and clear existing ones, using the right machine for the block, from a compact skid steer up to a grader for long runs.

Check your shire's notice for the width and the deadline, then get in early. The weeks before the deadline are the busiest time of year for this work.

Rural blocks

Bigger blocks often need a few jobs done at once: a driveway, a shed pad, fire breaks and some drainage. Get it all priced together and we can bring the right plant and get through it in one go, instead of paying to float machines in for each job separately.

Choosing a driveway finish

Whatever the finish, the base and the drainage do most of the work. Tell us how long the driveway is, what will be driving on it and how steep it is, and we will suggest what suits.

  • Gravel: suits long rural driveways and farm tracks, and is easy to top up
  • Recycled asphalt: binds into a firmer surface than loose gravel, with less dust
  • Concrete: for driveways close to the house, poured on a compacted base
